25 years ago Alan & Gary Mayson began offering light haulage and agricultural services to fill up their day, once they had completed their early morning milk rounds. With their agricultural backgrounds they decided to form Mayson Bros in 1982. A few years later they purchased a tractor & a large trailer to do haulage on site. With the addition of other plant they were able to offer more services and business was good.
Sadly in 1988 Alan had a fatal agricultural accident. Since that day Gary has worked 24 hours a day, seven days a week to cope with the loss of his brother and best friend. He has dedicated his life to keep Mayson Bros Ltd growing in Alan's memory and Mayson Bros is now a successful contracting services company.
As time as passed the work undertaken by Mayson Bros Ltd has become more diverse. In 1992 we purchased a digger, dump trailer and bobcat to work for two years on the Egremont by-pass. This valuable experience resulted in Mayson Bros Ltd moving from agriculture work into civil engineering and construction.
In 1995 Gary purchased a jetting unit and a drain survey camera. this acquisition enabled him to perform CCTV Drainage Surveys and repairs for Copeland Borough Council and then Copeland County Council Highways. In 1998 Gary employed two builders to carry out the rebuilding of Egremont Cemetery walls and other building work. About this time Ian Mayson, Gary's younger brother joined the company and focused on the drainage side of the business.
Director Gary Mayson puts the company's success down to the company work force and having such dedicated staff that are committed to their work.
