Mayson Bros Ltd has extensive experience in damp proofing works using both a fluid system and a mortar migration system. We are Kingfisher specialist approved contractors and work right across Cumbria.
Damp proofing, at its simplest is preventing walls acting like blotting paper and soaking up moisture from the ground. Modern buildings are constructed with a tough waterproof layer sandwiched between the bricks just above the foundations. unfortunately many newer buildings either haven't got this or the original material has failed.
The solution to this problem is a damp course. There are two main ways this can be achieved. The first is using an injected DPC (Damp Proof Course), the second uses a mortar migration system.
The injected damp course is a chemical that is injected under pressure into the walls. First the walls are drilled and then the damp proof course is injected under pressure. This reacts with the moisture to create a permanent impermeable barrier.
The mortar migration technique is a chemical paste that is injected under less pressure into the wall. This relies on capillary action to penetrate the substrate.
