Pipe Repairs

When a pipe is damaged underground Mayson Bros Ltd's experienced drainage department can rectify the problem. When a pipe is damaged, water can leak out and erode the surrounding soil. This can lead to subsidence, soil entering the system, or other problems. Tree and shrub roots can enter the system and block the run through the joints or any open crack.

To repair a pipe we can use either one of two methods, depending upon the suitability of the site and the severity of the problem.

The traditional method of pipe repair is a dig repair. This is where the affected portion of pipe is dug down to expose and repaired. This method is primarily used where access to the pipe is not a problem (e.g. in a garden).

The second method is a patch repair. This is where a patch liner is slid within the pipe from an access point to the problem area.

If roots have ingressed into a pipe we can remove these using our root cutting equipment. Once the roots have been eradicated we could then install patches at the site of ingress to avoid a re-occurrence of the problem. Removing roots without repairing the point of entry will simply allow the roots to re-grow into the system. If the site or problem is unsuitable for this method then we would perform a dig repair and seal any cracks or joints with concrete.

If in any doubt about the method best suited to your particular problem we will be more than happy to discuss this with you. We offer a very reasonably priced consultation service and all our works come with a free quotation service, just phone the office on 01946 822308 to discuss your needs.
